LonelyNo works in any browser, and it always will. You can also keep it on your phone, tablet or computer, sitting with your other apps — one tap and you're straight back into your conversation.
You're reading this on the LonelyNo site, so the first step is already done.
What you get
One tap, straight in
No address to type, no hunting through tabs. The face on your home screen is the whole journey.
It opens like an app
Its own window, with none of the browser's buttons and bars around the conversation.
It copes with a poor connection
It still opens on a train or a wobbly line. You need a signal to talk, but you won't hit a blank error page.
It asks for nothing
No app store, no card, no account with Apple or Google, and no access to your photos, contacts or where you are. It is the same LonelyNo, with a door on your home screen.
How to add it
iPhone or iPad
- Make sure you're in Safari (Apple only allows this from Safari).
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow coming out of the top. It's at the bottom of the screen, or top right on an iPad.
- Scroll down that list and tap "Add to Home Screen".
- Tap "Add" in the top corner. The face appears on your home screen.
Android phone or tablet
- Make sure you're in Chrome.
- Tap the three dots at the top right.
- Tap "Add to Home screen" — some phones call it "Install app".
- Tap "Install", and the face appears with your other apps.
Windows or Mac computer
- In Chrome or Edge, look at the right-hand end of the address bar for a small install icon — a screen with an arrow pointing into it.
- Click it, then click "Install".
- LonelyNo gets its own window and its own shortcut, like any other program.
On a Mac using Safari, choose File and then "Add to Dock".
Changed your mind?
Remove it exactly as you would any other app — press and hold the icon, then delete it. Nothing about your conversations changes, and everything is still there the next time you visit in a browser.
You never have to do any of this
The browser version isn't the lesser one. If you'd rather type the address in each time, that works perfectly well and always will.
