Terms

Last updated 9 September 2026

These terms apply when you use LonelyNo. Please read the first two sections even if you read nothing else — they describe what this service is, and what it is not.

What LonelyNo is

LonelyNo is a companionship service. It provides conversation with an AI companion by text. It is designed to be good company: to remember what you tell it, to follow up, and to be pleasant to talk to.

What LonelyNo is not

LonelyNo is not therapy, counselling, psychiatric or psychological treatment, medical care, nursing care, social care, a helpline, or an emergency service. It is not provided or supervised by clinicians. It cannot diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it does not attempt to.

We promise you a good conversation. We do not promise any outcome. Nothing said by your companion, on this website, or in our marketing should be understood as a claim to improve, treat or resolve any health condition.

In an emergency, contact the emergency services on 999. If life feels unbearable, Samaritans are available any time, day or night, on 116 123.

Your companion is an AI

Your companion is software. It is not a person, it has no feelings, and it will tell you so plainly if you ask. It may make mistakes, including misremembering things you have told it. Please do not rely on it for factual, medical, legal or financial information.

Who can use LonelyNo

You must be 18 or over to use LonelyNo. By using it you confirm that you are. If we believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and refund any payment made.

You must use LonelyNo for yourself. Do not use it to harass anyone, to attempt to make it produce unlawful content, or to interfere with the service.

Subscriptions, payment and cancellation

  • Your first chat is free, with no card. A subscription costs £19 for the first 90 days, then £19 a month. We email a reminder a week before monthly billing starts.
  • Before you pay, checkout shows the amount due now and when monthly billing begins.
  • You may cancel at any time, in one click, from your account. No phone call is needed and nobody will try to talk you out of it.
  • On cancellation you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not provide partial refunds for time already used, except where the law requires.
  • A subscription is bought by the person who uses it. We do not currently sell a gift subscription, so nobody else is billed for your account. If anyone other than you ever pays for it, that still does not make them a party to it. They receive a receipt and an expiry date, and nothing about your conversations.
  • If we change our prices, existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice and may cancel before the change takes effect.

Fair use

Plans include a stated amount of conversation. We may gently shape very heavy use so the service stays reliable for everyone. We will never end a conversation abruptly because a limit has been reached, and never while you are having a difficult time.

Your data

How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy notice. In short: we do not sell it, we do not advertise to you, and you can delete everything in one click.

Availability

We work to keep LonelyNo available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend the service for maintenance or where necessary to protect members.

Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these terms.

Because LonelyNo is not a care, medical or emergency service, we are not responsible for outcomes that such a service would address. Please do not use it as a substitute for one.

Ending your account

You may close your account at any time. We may end or suspend an account where these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, where we must do so by law, or where a member appears to be under 18.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales.
