A cancelled visit is understandable. It still hurts when Deb has bought the favourite biscuits and pictured the whole afternoon together.
Saying she is fine does not tell her child what she actually misses. Rosie gives Deb space to find a warmer, clearer way of asking for a call and another date.
Rosie is a LonelyNo AI companion. Deb is a fictional guest. These scripted stories use AI-generated voices and artwork; they are not customer testimonials or recordings of live chats. For adults 18+.

Deb: My university person was coming home for lunch. Then a group project ran late. Sensible reason. Very reasonable disappointment.
Rosie: You'd been looking forward to it.
Deb: I'd bought the favourite biscuits. Which I then ate with considerable parental dignity.
Rosie: How many biscuits is dignity?
Deb: Half a packet. We needn't involve the rest in this.
Rosie: What did you say when they called?
Deb: It's fine. Stay there. I'm busy anyway. I was not busy. I'd polished a table nobody was coming to.
Deb: I rang back. Said I'd been disappointed because I'd looked forward to seeing them, and asked for another Sunday.
Rosie: How did they take it?
Deb: Said they were sorry. We picked a date. They called later just to chat while I cooked. No laundry questions at all.
Rosie: And the visit?
Deb: Happened the following weekend. Shoes everywhere. Tea apparently still wrong. Absolutely lovely.
