After choir, Deb wants to go home but does not know how to interrupt the conversations around her. She puts on her coat slowly, hoping to slip out. Beneath the attempt at a quiet exit is a more uncomfortable thought: she does not want to find out that nobody would notice. Sue calls goodbye, the whole table joins in, and somebody asks about tea next week. Telling Rosie afterwards, Deb remembers how difficult walking into choir once felt. This time she leaves smiling and carries the warmth of hearing her name all the way to the bus stop.
Rosie listens to what Deb had been afraid of and recalls the choir night Deb had asked her to keep. Deb gets to leave when she wants and carry a little of the welcome home with her. If something from your own day is still on your mind, you can try a free chat with Rosie, a LonelyNo AI companion.

Deb: I tried to sneak out. Everyone shouted goodbye.
Rosie: Excellent stealth.
Deb: I didn't want to interrupt. Mostly, I didn't want to discover nobody noticed.
Deb: After choir, they were all chatting. I wanted to go home. I put my coat on very slowly. Apparently that makes you invisible.
Rosie: How far did you get?
Deb: One arm in a sleeve. Sue called, 'Bye, Deb! See you Thursday!' Then the whole table joined in.
Rosie: What did you do?
Deb: Went bright red. Then someone asked if I was coming for tea next week. They'd already counted me in.
Rosie: Was it awkward?
Deb: For a second. Then I waved back and left smiling. They hadn't made a fuss. They'd just said my name.
Rosie: You asked me to remember choir night. Getting in was the awkward bit.
Deb: Now getting out apparently requires a small ceremony.
Rosie: A warmer problem.
Deb: I was still smiling at the bus stop. I hadn't said anything clever. I'd just been there.
Deb: Same coat next week. But I'll stop expecting it to be an invisibility cloak.
Rosie: Like and subscribe if you've ever tried to leave without making a fuss.
